Social class

In last British class we watched a video about a urban gril who calle Lise from Yorkshire, she left her job and the dramatic team arranged 4 weeks to change her. Let a group of posh society guests believe that she was a upper class girl. Therefore, she need change her voice, how to station in every situation and how to dress to look like an suitable woman. Over 4 weeks, she had a final test in a upper class dinner party. We can see that she had nice dress and in her outlook like a upper-class. However, when she communicated with other guests, she had not the same topic for other guests. Because they had not grow up in the same enironment. Fianlly, she fail in dinner party, but she also feel happy for these 4 weeks.
There are many differents class for every country. For example in Britain there are working class, middle class and upper class.
'Post' one source came from a English gentlemen poet who called Edward Fitzgerald. It means elegant and fashionable.

Sport in China

I think the most popular sport in my country China is ping-pong. Because ping-pong is a very useful for our healthy and can take exercise for our brain. So, I like playing ping-pong with my friends, but I am not a good ping-pong sporter. In China older people like to go to park to play some body-building in park with other people and younger people perfer to go to special sports ground to play all kinds of sports. There are many famous sports people in China, but now I know Li Na is the most famous tennis sports person. Because she is the first Chinese person get the French Open winner. I think these sports both men and women, Lower class,Middle class and Upper class. Because sports are very execting for everyone. We have a sport meeting like Olympic Games start in Setember in every year.

Crime & Punishment

In my opinion, I think the death penalty exist as a punishment for murder or terrorism is the right. Because terrorism caused huge society problem in people's life, people must entrap every crisis in every day. So, the death penalty exist could reduce some problems. Moreover, I think murder also is a big crime. These people must pay some price for their murder someone's action. However, the death penalty isn't a very good solving cirme method and some people is a no human rights for criminals, but I believe the death penalty exist  have a certain extent for suppress crime. I think the more serious problem in my country is the social security fraud. Because people often buy some insures for them or their family, but when people real met some problems to find insurance company to gain compensation. Some insurance company often use as an excuse not gain compensation for people. In Shanghai, Liangyu Chen corrupt the social security for older people. He gain 2 millions illegality money. In China Law police must have  warrant to search people in normal situations. However, in some special situation police can without warrant to search people. Constable have no power to search people, search is illegality action.

Compar the Welfare system in China with the Welfare system in the UK

In China the low retirement pensions for employed women at 60 and men at 65, but in UK it has some differnet for women or men, it also to be equalized at 65 from 2011. In China there are some old people to work because some company allow their staff working until 70 age. Sometimes old person' wages maybe more than younger person. In UK unemployed people can get benefits from government's financial helping. This is the same for China there are unemployed people can take the lowest wage from government in every months.
There are some benefits exist in my country. For example, there are housing benefit, sickness benefit , maternity benefit and death grants. We have many social workers in my country and they are very popular in my country. In my country we called charities :Red Cross Society and The Hope Project. Red Cross Society is the important charity in my country. They not only help  disaster area people, homeless people and so on, but also help other country people. Charities collect money from people's fundraising and some from governments. There is not an equivalent of the Cities Advice Bureau in my country. Nowadays we have some heath service equivalent of the National Health Service(NHS) in my country. However, urban areas have different system for rural areas. In UK they usually earn over 1000 GPs. However, in China when people get sick, they often go to hospital to see a doctor, but now China governments start learn overseas government to develop family doctors. There are a few doctors into people's life. In China a typical nurse's uniform in most part is the same for UK. In my country the emergency telephone number is 110, 120 and 119. 110 calls policeman. 120 calls ambulance. 119 calls fire alarm. The popular 'alternative medicines' in my country is the Chinese medicines and aspirin.

Media continued( Newspaper)

Newspaper:DAILY&EXPRESS
Date: Tuesday May 10, 2011

In this newspaper the top story of the day is the Diana Inquest Samples Switched. I knew this story was the top story because the title was biggest than other tittle and the title had over half space in the first page. MIRROR report the similar news, but it is on the different page. Because if every newspaper has the same top story, people don't choose what newspaper they need. There are no fresh idea for people. In the Daily Express there are one page give the top story. However, in the Mirror  there are a quarter of one page give the story. Daily Express has a special space for the Comments/ Editorial section at page 26. Because in the top title called the similar as Comments.
Princess Diana's post-mortem samples were switched with those from another woman, an explosive new book claims. Wreck of the Mercedes in which Princess Diana was killed in August 1997.Morgan says he has uncovered a litany of conflicting data over Diana's death.

In conclusion, in my country there are the same type of newspaper for UK. However, we have not the Comments in newspaper.

Media TV

There are many different media TV programmes in UK. For example, BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5. On 3rd May 7 p.m.these programmes showed 'The One Show', 'Coast','Emmerdale' and 'News' respectively. 'The One Show' is talkshow programmes.Matt Baker and Alex Jones are programmes' compere. 'Coast' showed journeys along the south and west coast of Wales. It was a suggest a story idea.'Emmerdale' is shortlisted for popular programmes in ITV1 2011. Channel 4 and Channel 5 showed news programmes on 3rd May 7 p.m. In British, the most famous soaps is "coronation street".

In China a majority of TV programmes showed 'CCTV NEWS'. The news are civil news, international news and weather forecast. Some channel showed cartoon or series of drama.I think almost media is the same. The big different factor is China not have pay every Channel , people only pay 35 yuan to watch all programmes in TV.

Education

There are increasing children choose private schools in China.Because a majority of parents think private schools can give more professional knowledge or systematic management for children, but private school have more expensive fees than public schools for children. In this point it is same to UK.Many parents send their children to private schools learning because public schools haven't content parents request. There are 2 school terms in my country. They are Autumn term in September and Spring term in February, but in UK there are 3 school terms. It is different school terms for China. The most important school exams we call 'the University Extrance Examination' in my country and children take them when children were 17 or 18 years old.Children must take this exams and let this exam marks to choose university.I think this exam is the same as 'A Levels'.

I think the most famous university in China,it is Tsinghua University(THU) or Peking University. They set up for 100 years in China and a lot of parents hope their children to study in these schools. In UK the most famous university are University of Cambridge or University of Oxford. They are famous university of the world.I think university students usually live in university residence hall when they were freshman, but sometimes when their home are very nearly for university, they maybe live with their parents. However, I know in UK many university students usually leave their parents oneself living when they were 18 years old.Nowadys more and more university students travel abroad to study in my country and they choose mots popular countries are USA,UK,Japan,Canada and Australia.

The Welsh Assembly (the Senedd)

Designed by architect Lord Richard Rogers, the Senedd ('parliament' or 'senate' in Welsh) finally opened for business in February 2006.Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the new home of the National Assembly for Wales has already scooped up a Building Research Establishment (BRE) award for the 'green' principles used throughout its design. The roof features a large, 6 metre tall wind cowl which funnels natural light and a ventilating air flow down to the debating chamber below.
The building uses an Earth Heat Exchange System which uses the ground as both a heat source and a heat sink, with a low-emission biomass boiler being fuelled by locally sourced wood chips.
Natural ventilation is provided throughout most of the building, while rainwater is collected from the roof and recycled for the toilets and window washing.

The people of Britain

There are four nations of the British Isles(England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland). They were different racially in the past. For example, the people in Ireland, Wales and highland Scotland belonged to the Celatic race, but in England and lowland Scotland were mainly of Germanic origin. The second difference was their spoken in languages. People in the Celtic areas spoke Celtic languages;Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic and Welsh.People in the Germanic areas spoke Germanic dialects.Today difference in the four parts of the United Kingdom have become blurred, but they are not completely disappeared. There are different flags in the four nations:St George's Cross(England),Dragon of Cadwallader(Wales), St Andrew's Cross or Lion rampant(Scotland)and St Patrick's Cross or Republic of Ireland(Ireland). There are different plant in four nations: Rose, Leek/Daffodil,Thistle and Shamrock. In my language we call British people"Ying Guo Ren".

The British Government

There are been in no women MPs in the past.Countess Constance Markievicz was the first woman elected to the House of Commons, in 1918. However she did not take her seat, in protest against Britain’s policy in Ireland. The first woman to be elected and take her seat was Viscountess Nancy Astor in 1919.After the General Election 2010, there were 650 MPs elected.
Due to the resignation of Mr Gerry Adams on 26 January 2011 and the resignation of Eric Illsley on 8 February 2011, there are currently 648 MPs.There are currently 144 female MPs.

St David's Day

St David's Day is celebrated in Wales on 1 March, in honour of St David (Dewi Sant), the patron saint of Wales.St David was a Celtic monk, abbot and bishop, who lived in the sixth century. He spread the word of Christianity across Wales. His mother was a saint(Saint Non) and his teacher was also a saint(St Paulinus).
The most famous story about Saint David tells how he was preaching to a huge crowd and the ground is said to have risen up, so that he was standing on a hill and everyone had a better chance of hearing him. Many people pin a daffodil or leek to their clothes and some, especially children, wear traditional costumes.Concerts are held to mark the occasion, particularly male voice choirs. In the primary school
girls wear a petticoat and overcoat, made of Welsh flannel, and a tall hat, worn over a frilled bonnet. Boys wear a white shirt, a Welsh flannel waistcoat, black trousers, long wool socks and black shoes.
Chilldren enjoy traditional Welsh dances, sing Welsh folk songs and recite Welsh poems.(http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/saints/david_1.shtml)

The European Union

Over half a century earlier, it was the devastation caused in Europe by World War II which underlay the imperative to build international relationships to guard against any such catastrophe recurring. French statesmen Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman are regarded as the architects of the principle that the best way to start the European bonding process was by developing economic ties. This philosophy was the foundation for the Treaty of Paris which was signed in 1951. It established the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) which was joined by France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Nowdays there have 40 percentage of world trade belongs to the EU.There have European Council,Council of Ministers,European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Court of Justice all in the running of the EU.The Parliament is the only directly-elected body in the EU.Eurosceptic is a general term used to describe criticism of the European Union (EU), and opposition to the process of European integration,  Traditionally, the main source of eurosceptic has been the notion that integration weakens the nation state. Other views occasionally seen as eurosceptic include perceptions of the EU being undemocratic or too bureaucratic.A europhile is a person who is fond of, admires, or even loves European culture, society, history and so on. In politics, it may be used to imply Pro-Europeanism, or support for the European Union. At last polls in recent years will suggested that a majority of Britons are against joining the EU.

The UK Parliament

The development of Parliament over one thousand years, from the Anglo-Saxon Witan to the reign of Elizabeth I.Parliament examines what the Government is doing, makes new laws, holds the power to set taxes and debates the issues of the day. The House of Commons and House of Lords each play an important role in Parliament's work. The business of Parliament takes place in two Houses: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Their work is similar: making laws (legislation), checking the work of the government (scrutiny), and debating current issues. The House of Commons is also responsible for granting money to the government through approving Bills that raise taxes. Generally, the decisions made in one House have to be approved by the other. In this way the two-chamber system acts as a check and balance for both Houses.

There are two Houses of Parliament:The Houses Lords are much power than the Houses of Commons. Therefore the House of Commons was originally far less powerful than the House of Lords. There are 659 constituencies in the UK: 529 in England, 72 on Scotland, 40 in Wales and 18 in Northern Ireland. Constituens are different geographical size, some very lagre ,some covered small area. Prime Minister is elected through general elections. The system called  the’first past the post ‘is the person who has the most votes wins, even if they have only one vote more than the next person.
